DWade's Single Flaw & the Refs

For all of Dwayne Wade’s heroics for the Miami HEAT over the last 8 seasons, there is one unsightly and dangerous part of his game or perhaps his attitude and demeanor that, one day, threatens to cost the HEAT in a big way.

Without question Wade is one of the most aggressive players in the NBA and goes to the basket just about as hard and often as anyone. However, his constant custom of complaining to officials and refusing to get back on defense has become a frustrating thing to watch.

On what seems like a nightly basis, Dwayne Wade continues the pattern of going to the basket, not getting the call and then staying down court looking at the officials, his bench and anyone else that will look back. The result is usually Wade slowly trotting back down court, pointing to a teammate to pick up his man and usually watching as the opposition flies in for an easy layup or dunk as the 76ers did on more than two occasions last night.

This is nothing new and has gone on for the last few years; it seems to have become worse lately though and without question already costs the HEAT at least 2-4 points a night. In a sport where the margin of victory can be so slim this problem seems destined to one day cost the HEAT in a big way.

Oddly, when one speaks negatively about Dwayne Wade you often get met with dirty looks and distain as DWade continues to be a defensive subject around Miami. The fact that he delivered us a championship and has easily been the best player in HEAT history, after only 8 seasons, seems to clear him of any criticism ever. There still seems to be a slight awkwardness with he and Lebron James, as Wade gets the majority of the plaudits in Miami, being introduced in lineups last, being in the middle of all the photos and Wade’s cheers and “MVP” chants seem to echo much louder than the statistically better Lebron James.

All this aside, Wade’s technical with 0:51 seconds left in a 1 point game last night, could have seriously cost the HEAT and in such an important game and with much bigger games looming, Miami’s beloved superstar must lead by example and display a demeanor more worthy of his experience.

Last night’s Refs

The referees became a major talking point last night as the names Tony Brothers, Steve Javie and Bennett Salvatore were hot topics on Twitter and around the arena! Like most insane fans I often absurdly believe every referee to be terrible, but just to go deeper here are the actual records of last night’s referees in HEAT games this year.

Bennett Salvatore 5-0, Steve Javie 4-2 and Tony Brothers 4-2….that’s 13-4.
